Purpose
As a Part Creator, you can Import large number of Parts by uploading a template provided by CQ. This ensures faster data entry and consistent Part records.
Prerequisites
Installation Package: CQ Core, CQ PLM Extension
Product: ProductQuest
Function: Standard Parts
User Profile: Standard User
Permissions: CQ Base User PSG and CQ PLM Creator PSG
Part Import Template: Obtain and Download the Part Import Template.csv
Configurations: Part Families
Steps

Open the Parts tab. Then click Import.

Specify this information:

Part Family
Specify the part family. -
Part Number
Specify the part number. -
Title
Specify the title. -
Description
Provide a description. -
Part Record Type
Specify the part record type. -
Rev
Specify the part revision.

Caution: Template Headers must remain as-is for successful mapping.

Drop/Upload the updated Part Import file. Then click Import.

Click Done.
Note:
CQ Batch Activity Call-Out Limit
-
CQ Batch Activity call-out limit is set to 50 Part Numbers.
-
Imports with 50 or fewer Parts run synchronously.

Imports with more than 50 Parts start a Batch Job.
Synchronous Import
-
Runs directly without using the Batch system.
-
Creates Part, Part Revision, Part Assembly, and Primary Controlled Document records in one transaction.
Asynchronous Import
-
Starts a Background Batch Job when the Import exceeds the CQ Batch Activity call‑out limit.

Creates Part records immediately.
-
Queues remaining related records for Background Batch Job processing.
-
Displays a banner “Background job is running…Click to view progress.”
-
Banner stays visible until the Batch Job Completes.
Expected Outcome

Parts are imported in bulk successfully with no errors.
