Overview
Operations serve as the fundamental building blocks of a Process. For example, the steps in a product’s Manufacturing Process—such as Extrusion, Forming, Inspection, Packaging, and Shipping—are distinct Operations that need to be executed sequentially. Thus, the first step in establishing a new Process is creating the necessary Operations to guide Users through it. Each Operation record in CQ, powered by CQ Process Manager, can feature multi-language instructions, images and videos to support Users in performing the Operation.
Once an Operation is created in the system, an Operation Definition Controlled Document can be created to provide the detailed instructions needed for that specific step. This document is classified under the Work Instruction Document Category in CQ and is managed with the proper documentation controls provided by CQ’s Document Management component.
Operations can later be linked to Process Steps within a Process record, where CQ’s Digital SOP capability can be utilized through a Process Definition Controlled Document record type.
