Activating Permits

Purpose

As a Permit Approver, you change an approved Permit to Active status so authorized work can begin. This ensures the work starts under controlled and validated conditions.

Prerequisites

• Installation Packages: CQ Core - Summer 2026, CQ EHS Extension, CQ Forms

• Product: SafetyQuest

• Function: Permit

• User Profile: Standard User

• Permissions: CQ Base User PSG and CQ EHS Base User PSG and CQ Permit Approver PSG

Steps

1. Open the Permit record, click the Activate button in the Next Best Actions section.

2. Optionally, enter a Comment.

3. Click the Save button.

The Permit expires once the Work End Date is reached.

Expected Outcome

• In the Permit record, Details tab, the Permit Status becomes Active.

• The Deactivate and Time Extension buttons are available in the Next Best Actions section.

• If the linked Work Record is in Approved Stage, in the Work Record, Details tab, Work Record Team Members section, the Print Label option is available in the drop-down of each Team Member.

• The Permit Active activity is displayed on the History tab.
