Purpose
As a Document Owner, clone a controlled document in CQ to create a new document by copying information from an existing document.
Before creating a template document, confirm with your CQ Administrator which method your organization uses to introduce new documents.

Permissions: CQ Base User PSG, CQ Document Owner PSG

Record: Controlled Document in any Status
Steps
-
Open the Controlled Documents tab.

Select the Controlled Document to be cloned.

Select Clone from the Action Menu.

Specify this information:
-
Document Number
Specify a number, for example DOC-0000001, or leave the field set to Auto to use automatic numbering. -
Revision
Specify Revision Number. -
Title
Specify the title. -
Template
Specify Template, if applicable. -
Changes
Leave this field blank. This feature is not used with cloning documents. -
Primary Content
Leave this field blank if copying content from the previous document.

Specify Data to Copy to Cloned Document:

Approvers
Specify approvers to copy from the Workflow tab. -
Linked Files
Specify Linked Files to copy from the Attachments tab. -
Related Documents
Specify Related Documents to copy from the Reference tab. -
Distribution Tracking
Specify Distribution Tracking to copy from the Distribution Tracking Quick Link. -
Link Notes
Specify Link Notes to copy from the Notes tab. -
Requirements
Specify Requirements to copy from the Training tab. -
Qualified Trainers
Specify Requirements to copy from the Qualified Related list tab.

Note: Qualified Trainers displays for Course Record Types only.

Click Save.
Expected Outcome
-
A new controlled document is created.
-
The data selected to be copied is copied to the new record.
